The Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods are what taught me to love and respect my body.  Previously, I had used exercise as a punishment or way to force my body into submission.  Even in yoga classes, I would strive for the perfect pose, and because of the stationary nature of the poses and my naturally flexible body, I could force myself into them.  One day, I pushed too far and pulled a muscle, and Gyrotonic is what I used to put myself back together.
